Controversial Chinese Ambassador’s Twitter Post

by time news

Yaffa wants to retrieve the tweet posted by the Chinese ambassador in support of Sri Lanka in connection with the UN Human Rights Council session to be held in Geneva. University Students’ Union has emphasized.

The students’ union emphasized this in a press conference held at Jaffna University yesterday.

He further stated,

China was well aware of the suffering of Tamils during the ethnic war waged by the government.

Our only hope is to seek justice at the UN Human Rights Council by taking Sri Lanka to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Only yesterday Tamil parliamentarians, political parties, religious leaders, families of the disappeared, civil society, trade unions and we collectively sent a letter to the UN Human Rights Council asking Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court.

On the same day Tamils unitedly sent a letter urging the UN Commission on Human Rights to refer Sri Lanka to the International Criminal Court, the Chinese ambassador tweeted in support of Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council.

The opinion of the Chinese Embassy is to strengthen its influence in Sri Lanka. Therefore, we strongly condemn the growing dominance of China in the North-East, which has an anti-Tamil attitude.

We therefore urge the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka to retract the content he posted on Twitter and to support our call to refer Sri Lanka to the International Criminal Court at the upcoming UN Human Rights Council session.
