Srikanth wins; Lakshaya failure- Dinamani

India’s K.Sreekanth advanced to the 3rd round with a stunning victory in the Badminton tournament in Japan, Lakshya Sen was eliminated from the tournament.

In women’s singles, Srikanth defeated world number 4 Lee Ji Jia of Malaysia 22-20, 23-21 in 37 minutes. And this is the first win for Srikanth who met Jiah for the 4th time.

However, World Championship bronze medalist Lakshya Sen lost 21-18, 14-21, 13-21 to the world’s 21st ranked player, Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.

On the other hand, in women’s singles, Saina Nehwal lost 9-21, 17-21 to top-ranked Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in 30 minutes.

In men’s doubles, MR Arjun/Dhuruv Kapila lost to South Korea’s Choi Sol Kyu/Kim Won Ho 21-19, 21-23, 15-21. Likewise, the Krishna Prasad/Vishnudhan Goud pair fell 18-21, 17-21 to the pair of Christo Popov/Toma Junior Popov of Brass.

In the women’s doubles category, Gayatri Gopichand/Dreesa Jolly lost 17-21, 18-21 to Thailand’s 7th-ranked Jongolphan Kittidarakul/Ravinda Prajongjai.

In mixed doubles, Juhi Devangan/Venkat Gaurav Prasad lost 11-21, 10-21 to China’s Zheng Chi Wei/Huang Ya Qiang.
