VIDEO. In Paris, the rush on electric scooters “not to pay for parking”

by time news

“I have a thermal scooter, but I’m considering switching to electric because I don’t really want to pay for parking”, Sébastien expresses frankly, before starting his scooter. Like him, a large number of Parisians say they are ready to change their two-wheelers, to avoid going to the cash register each time they park in the capital.

September 1 marks the end of free parking for two-wheelers in Paris. As a visitor, you now have to pay between 2 or 3 euros per hour, depending on the district. This measure angers bikers, but does business for dealers:

“I sold six scooters in one morning, it’s exceptional,” says Julien Garcia, co-founder of the “Les Nouveaux Scooters” dealership, which is 100% devoted to electric.

Convert your two-wheeler to electric with Noil

To benefit from free, without going so far as to change vehicles, the start-up Noil, created in 2019, offers another solution. It converts scooters to electric in less than 48 hours. “We are seeing a real boom in orders and reservations linked to this regulation,” explains Victor Breban, co-founder of Noil.

The start-up plans to make 1000 electrifications this year. The founders are waiting for several approvals to be able to install their kit on a large number of two-wheel models.
