An American inmate who killed a fellow inmate for not stopping talking has been found dead in prison. A death row inmate was found dead in a cell in a Nebraska prison. The court sentenced him to death in a case of strangulation of a fellow inmate while he was in jail as a suspect in a murder case.
A 45-year-old death row inmate, Patrick Schroeder, was found dead, prison sources said. His cause of death is not known.
In 2006, he was jailed for beating up his employer and throwing him into a well. Kenny Albers, a 75-year-old farmer, was killed that day. The case was that after having a money dispute with Kenny Albers, he went to his house and beat him with a stick and threw him into a well. The court then sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The next murder occurred in 2017 while he was serving a life sentence in a Nebraska prison. Two prisoners were housed together in a cell for lifers. His co-prisoner was 22-year-old Terry Berry, who was convicted of kidnapping and robbery. Patrick Schroeder strangled him to death on the sixth day after Terry arrived in the cell. The case was that he was strangled with his hands and then a handkerchief was used to ensure death. After the murder, the guard was called and informed that his fellow inmate was dead. Then he was charged with one more crime of murder.
Patrick Schroeder, who appeared in court, said it was a strange reason. That was because Terry Berry wouldn’t shut up. He testified before the court that he was talking all the time and would not shut up no matter how much he said, that was the reason for the murder. He testified that those sentenced to life imprisonment should be kept in solitary confinement and cannot tolerate another person. Subsequently, the court sentenced him to death. However, Patrick Schroeder refused to appeal against the death sentence. He said that he deserves death penalty and there is no other option before him.
After this, Patrick Schroeder was found dead in his cell yesterday while awaiting execution.
