Singer Avril Lavigne finally got a star named after her on the famous Hollywood Boulevard. 20 years after the release of her first album, the Interpersonal singer is one of the most prominent cultural women to have a star named after her on the avenue floor.

Lavigne, who has already turned 37 years old – as absurd as it sounds – launched her career with the album Let Go which was a resounding success upon its release and led the star to the top of the world pop at the age of only 17. “Today I love making music more than ever” said Lavigne. “I feel the inspiration.” She then thanked her family and fiance Derek Smith – better known as the rapper ‘Mod Sun’.

Lavigne also said at the ceremony in her honor that she hopes the star given to her will encourage the next 16-year-old girl from a small town to “one day come to Hollywood full of hopes and dreams.” At the age of 37, Labin already has an illustrious career behind her – with eight Grammy nominations.
