PM Modi in Kochi: On the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate an indigenous aircraft carrier and induct it into the Navy today in Kochi. Apart from this, the naval flag (ensign) will also be kept unfurled. At this special function, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate various schemes for the common people in Mangalore. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also attend the event.

The country will get its own aircraft carrier

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the first domestic aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to the nation today at 9:30 AM at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. At 1:30 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 3800 crore in Mangalore. During the event, the Prime Minister will also unveil the new naval flag, a symbol of India’s rich and rich maritime heritage, distinct from the colonial era.

What is INS Vikrant?

INS Vikrant, the first indigenous aircraft carrier, is considered a significant step towards self-sufficiency in the defense sector. The ship was indigenously designed and built as an aircraft carrier named INS Vikrant. It was designed by the Indian Navy’s own agency, the Bureau of Naval Design. Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, a public sector shipbuilding company under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Vikrant is built with advanced automatic features. It is the largest ship ever built in India’s maritime history.

The indigenous aircraft carrier is named after its predecessor and India’s first aircraft carrier. It played an important role in the 1971 war. The ship is equipped with all domestic appliances and equipment. It involves leading industrial companies of the country and more than 100 micro, small and medium enterprises. With the induction of Vikrant, India will have two active aircraft carriers. This will give extra strength to the country’s maritime defences.

He will initiate these important projects:

It is said that the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 3800 crore in Mangalore.

For the purpose of handling containers and other cargo operated by Prime Minister Modi Mangalore Port Authority, Dock No. 14 will inaugurate a project for mechanization at a cost of over Rs 280 crore. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for five projects to be implemented by the port at a cost of around Rs 1000 crore.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate two projects – BS-VI Upgradation Project and Seawater Desalination Project – run by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited.

The BS-VI upgradation project will cost around Rs. 1830 crores, it will produce environmentally clean fuel with BS-VI standards. Similarly, the seawater desalination project at a cost of around Rs 680 crore will reduce dependence on fresh water and ensure steady supply of hydrocarbons and petrochemicals throughout the year.
