As Vinayaka Chaturthi falls in the middle of the week this week, the films released on Wednesday instead of Friday. Films and serials are released on Friday as usual on OTT sites. So what films and series have been released?
Cobra: Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the film starring Vikram and Srinidhi Shetty released on Wednesday and is receiving mixed reviews. The story revolves around who is behind the murders and why they are doing it, as important figures are killed. As the length of the film has been reduced on Thursday, the team is expecting the film to get more response.
The star moves: Pa. Directed by Ranjith, this movie starring Kalidas Jayaram, Kalaiyarasan, Dushara Vijayan and others has released on Wednesday itself. Although the film’s slowness and length of propaganda are its weak points, critics have cited it as one of the films most important.
Sundari Gardens (Malayalam): This film starring Aparna Balamurali, Shruti Suresh and Binu Babu has released on Sony Live. After getting divorced, the heroine, who works in a school library, is attracted to the man who becomes an English teacher in the same school. But, that love is not so easy to come together. Those who want to watch a simple, fun movie should check it out.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: J.R.R. The Rings of Power sequel to 2001’s Lord of the Rings series based on Tolkien’s famous novel. Instead of releasing in theatres, the series is now released on Amazon Prime OTT. The 8-episode first season is out now.
While the series has received generally positive reviews, it has also been criticized for being a bit slow moving.
Cuttputli: 2018 Hindi Re-make of the Tamil movie Rakshasan starring Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul. Akshay Kumar, Rahul Preet Singh, Chandrasur Singh and others have acted in this film. It is the story of a police officer who confronts a gang of child kidnappers in the city. Released on Disney + Hotstar.
Apart from these, some movies which have already released in theaters have been released in OTT. Prabhu Deva starrer My Dear Bhootham has released on ZEE5. Telugu film Degala babji, a remake of Tamil film Odha Seruppu starring Parthiban, hit the theaters on 20th May. The film is currently released on Aha OTD.
Kateri, which hit theaters two weeks ago, is now on Netflix. Kannada movie Vikrant Rona, Khuda Hafiz – 2 released on Zee5 OTT.
