A report by the State Audit Office of the Palestinian Authority found that some of the beneficiaries of the $22 million Corona relief fund for the “most needy” actually went to people who worked from home with a salary of $6,000 a month.
Corruption was rampant, workers in well-paid jobs in PA offices, universities, banks and media companies received fat grants, although the fund was established by the local private sector and Arab donors, the revelations raise serious questions about Britain’s involvement in supporting the notoriously corrupt PA, the newspaper reports The British Jew Jewish Time.news.
Since 2008, the British taxpayer has given the Palestinian Authority about 100 million dollars mainly through donations for health and education expenses. On top of that, since 2011, 80 million dollars have been transferred to support the security services of the Palestinian Authority, whose brutality against opponents does not need to be detailed, as the newspaper published last week.
The Palestinian audit found that up to six members of the same family received corona payments when only one from one family is allowed. Assistance is also given to people who are registered as directors in profitable companies or who had large shareholdings in enterprises traded on the stock exchange.
