Chennai: The government has ordered that ‘pensioners can apply for family protection fund during their lifetime’.

Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Order: The funds accruing to the Pensioner Provident Fund Scheme shall be paid to the spouses or heirs of the pensioners after their death. In 1997, the government ordered that pensioners do not need to apply during their lifetime to get this fund.

In this situation, they requested that the pensioner should be allowed to apply during the lifetime of the pensioner or his spouse to get the family security fund. Therefore, the pensioner and his/her spouse can apply for the Family Provident Fund during their lifetime, it said.
