An increase in the import of goods through Oman’s sea ports

by time news

Statistics published by the “National Center for Statistics and Information” indicated that the volume of goods imported through Oman’s seaports increased in the first five months of this year to 15.7 million tons, compared to 12.2 million tons in the same period last year, i.e. an increase of 28.4%.

The increase comes against the background of the recovery in growth in a variety of sectors against the background of the Sultanate of Oman’s intention to increase its spending to encourage economic growth. Also, in Oman they claim that this increase is the result of streamlining procedures by the Sultanate’s General Customs Administration including the electronic release of goods and delivery of shipping data electronically 48 hours before the vessel’s arrival.

The goods imported through the seaports constitute 86.1% of Oman’s total goods imports during the first five months of this year and total 18.3 million tons.
