Jeddah Mayor’s Adviser Engineer Mohammad Al-Zahrani said that 164 labor camps found to not fully comply with conditions and standards were evacuated during inspections. He also informed that punitive measures including fine have been taken against the violators.
Officials have warned that labor camps found in violation of the law, even if they have a legal license, will be shut down. Along with this, the violators will have to pay a fine. He said that as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural and Housing Affairs to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, improve the quality of life in Saudi cities and protect public health, the municipality conducts inspections of labor camps to ensure compliance with group housing conditions.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce has intensified inspections as part of preventing the price increase of daily use items. The purpose of inspection is to monitor the prices of essential commodities, ensure their availability, detect violations and take punitive action, and protect the rights of consumers. The ministry said that teams under the Saudi Ministry of Commerce conducted inspections in 3846 business establishments in different provinces during a week.
The Ministry of Commerce is monitoring the prices of 266 daily use items in trading establishments across the provinces through an electronic system. The authorities have also warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate the law by monitoring price rise and hoarding. Officials said that those who find such law violations should report on 1900 number or through the app released by the ministry.
