Former “Bild” employee is suing Axel Springer in the USA

by time news

EA former employee of “Bild” (like WELT belongs to Axel Springer SE) filed a civil lawsuit against Axel Springer in a court in Los Angeles in August. This is according to a court website. The reason for this is, among other things, allegations of sexual harassment against former “Bild” editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt. According to the court, the first hearing is scheduled for December.

A spokesman for Axel Springer said on Tuesday when asked: “We are examining the lawsuit and will comment on it at the appropriate time.”

“Bild” editor-in-chief Reichelt had to go in October 2021, the background was allegations of abuse of power in connection with consensual relationships with employees. In the spring of 2021, Springer initiated internal proceedings against Reichelt to review the allegations and decided to give him a second chance.

A media report by the “New York Times” took up the case again in October 2021, and at the same time there had been press research by an investigative team from the Ippen media group. Springer then drew a line and released Reichelt from his duties. The journalist himself later spoke of a “smear campaign” against him.
