Peace Valley’s intervention to avoid foreclosure; Sudhakaran has a heart filled Onam

Kothamangalam: Sudhakaran and his wife Ammini, a differently-abled resident of Kothamangalam, who were worried that they would have to step out of the house where they were born and go to the streets, got relief from all this.
It was the intervention of Nellikuzhi Peaswali that gave Sudhakaran a new lease of life. Sudhakaran suffered a back injury in an accident and was paralyzed from the waist down and has been in a wheelchair for 38 years. The notice to foreclose the house came when the repayment of the loan taken from the Co-operative Bank for his wife’s treatment was delayed. A loan of Rs 75,000 was taken but the repayments were delayed and the interest was around Rs 2.5 lakh. Welfare Pension and BPL Sudhakaran, who was living with a ration card, was unable to repay the amount. Sudhakaran’s many attempts to settle the liability by selling the land failed.
Sudhakaran reached Peace Valley as a last ditch effort and expressed his grief. Sudhakaran’s pitiful condition was presented to the bank officer by the Peace Valley officials and the matter was taken up for consideration by the bank’s special court.
The facts of non-repayment capacity, senior citizen, differently abled and Scheduled Caste family were presented to Peace Valley Bank.
With this, the bank has taken the decision to waive the entire interest amount. The loan amount was collected by Peace Valley officials and given to Sudhakaran, after paying the amount in the bank, Aadhaar was bought back. Chairman P.M. Abu Bakar and Vice Chairman Rajeev Pallurutty handed over the title to Sudhakaran.
