The service on Metro line 6 between the Sainz de Baranda and Nuevos Ministerios stations will be restored this Saturday, September 10. During this time, the affected users have had a special substitute bus service, at no additional cost, which has made the route on the surface of the cut section, the regional government has recalled in a communication echoed by Europa Press. The work that has been carried out has enabled the elimination of asbestos from the vault of the platforms of line 6 at these stops (approximately 2,500 square meters per station) and its removal also from the different technical rooms.

In the case of Avenida de América and Diego de León, the works have coincided with the start of the actions planned within the Madrid Metro Accessibility and Inclusion Plan for the installation of lifts. The modernization of both stations is also planned, as well as the implementation of new emergency exits and the renewal of all signage.
In 2018 Metro de Madrid began a deasbestos removal plan that plans to remove this material from the entire network, with a planned investment of more than 170 million euros. The company has tendered more than a hundred contracts during all this time, with the horizon of completion of the actions of 2028.
