“More than 20 localities have been liberated”, according to the Ukrainian general staff. The army said on Thursday that it had taken over territories and localities controlled by Moscow in the regions of Kharkiv (northeast), in the south and in the Donbass (east), piercing the Russian defenses by several tens of kilometers.
“Military units penetrated enemy defenses to a depth of 50 km. During the active operations carried out in the direction of Kharkiv, more than 20 localities were liberated,” Oleksiy Gromov, a senior official of the Ukrainian General Staff, told a press conference.
Two and three kilometers gained in the Donbass
In the South, he assured “that in certain directions” the Ukrainian army “advanced deep into the enemy defenses, between two and several tens of kilometers” depending on the sector. He gave no geographical details, while a Ukrainian counter-offensive is underway in the Kherson region. “A number of localities have been liberated,” he said simply.
In the Donbass, the Ukrainian soldiers gained two and three kilometers around the towns still under Ukrainian control of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, retaking the locality of Ozerne from the Russians, according to Oleksiï Gromov.
