Puducherry- At the film festival held in Puducherry, Koozhangal was awarded the Sankaradas Swamy Award. The ‘Film Festival of India-2022’ jointly organized by Puducherry Government Department of Information and Publicity, Navadarshan Film Corporation and Alliance Francaise started yesterday. Public Works Minister Lakshminarayanan was the special guest and inaugurated the film festival at the opening ceremony held at the Alliance Française theater. Earlier, Tamilchelvan, director of news and publicity, welcomed the film festival. Collector Vallavan, Navadarshan Film Association Secretary Palani, Alliance Francaise President Dr. Satish Nallam congratulated the film. In the ceremony, Sankaradas Swamy Award for the best film of the year 2021 was given to Kuzhangal. Minister Lakshminarayanan presented the award and director Vinodraj received it. The award was accompanied by a check of Rs.1 lakh and a silver memento. While speaking at the ceremony, Minister Lakshminarayanan said, ‘For 39 years, Puducherry Government News and Publicity Department has been giving awards to the best film and film director. This brings pride to the state of Puducherry’, he said. Director Vinodraj, who received the award, said, ‘I have worked in the theater industry. I made the film Kugangal with the blessings of Sankaradas Swami, who is known as the father of the theater industry. It makes me happy that this film has received an award.
