IThere are no words, or words that admit defeat. An “unspeakable” spectacle, a spectacle “that surpasses understanding”. There are no words, but there are the pale faces of the police officers who give an account of the findings they made at the crime scene on the Promenade des Anglais on the night of 14 to 15 July 2016. There is their way of clinging to procedures, methods and technical terms, of saying “proceed”, “element” or “biological substance” to dispel the dread a little – “Man is thus fact, says one of them, that when he has technical references, he also manages to overcome his psychological difficulties”. It happens, however, that the beautiful construction crumbles and that at the helm, six years later, they falter…
