The producer of the series, Bruce Miller, shared that he has been thinking about the next chapter of Gilead since the beginning of work on The Handmaid’s Tale. The original book was published in 1985, but the sequel, whose story begins 15 years after the end of the previous one, was published after the series aired and is, according to him, a nice appendix and an enriching addition to the original story.
