Jose Flores Velazquez of Annandale, Va., won $1 million in the 20X the Money Scratcher game last month, according to a recent press release from the Virginia Lottery. Flores Velazquez bought the ticket at a Safeway supermarket while he was there just to buy a soda and was tempted to submit a form, the news release said.

When he brought the ticket to the Virginia Lottery’s customer service center, he thought he was going home with $600. He quickly realized that he was one of the leading winners in the game.
Flores Velazquez chose to take the one-time cash option and not split the prize, which ended up totaling $759,878 before tax. Safeway Supermarket also received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. According to the announcement they made, there is still one person who did not come to collect the grand prize. Maybe he will be surprised too?
