Teacher confesses to molesting her student 40 years ago. The teacher was released from jail. Lee Dunbar, a former teacher in Sydney, Australia, was released from Downing Center Court on Friday. Dunbar was given an 18-month ‘community sentence’ instead of jail time.
The teacher admitted inviting the girl, then a student, to her flat in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in the 1980s and molesting her. Dunbar was 26 at the time of the attack. During that time, she attended Beacon Hill High School’s P.E. She was a teacher. They molested a 17-year-old student studying there. Dunbar served prison time in 1996 for molesting another female student.
Dunbar eventually came forward with the molested girl’s case after hearing a podcast about inappropriate relationships between teachers and students on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in the 1970s.
In 2018, that student was 55 years old. She had listened to a podcast about teachers on the Northern Beaches mistreating students. In it, there were many references to a strike force being set up to investigate such matters. She told her husband to call the strike force. He called them and started an investigation into their complaint of abuse,” Judge Pauline David said during the trial.

In a call recorded by the police, the victim spoke to Dunbar. In it, Dunbar admitted that what he had done was wrong.
