The biggest chess site in the world boycotted and blocked the rising star

19-year-old chess master Hans Neumann has been banned by the massive online chess platform Chess.com, just days after being accused of cheating in a match against five-time world chess champion Magnus Carlsen – started an international firestorm in the world of chess. “We shared with him detailed evidence regarding our decision, including information contradicting his statements regarding the number of times and the severity of his game cheating,” a statement from Chess.com.

During an interview with the Chess Club of St. Louis, Nieman revealed that Chess.com took action to remove access to his account and banned him from playing in the World Championship of Chess.com due to the allegations. Nieman claimed that all the backlash and exposure of the dirt from the past stemmed from personal interests and a sort of mob mentality.

“I believe it’s completely unfair,” he said. “It’s a targeted attack, and if you look at my games, it’s not, it’s not about my games, so why the CEO of Chess.com He comes to me and says that they expect to host you in the World Chess Championship, we expect you to play in our events, and then as soon as I beat Magnus they decide to remove my account and not let me play in tournaments.”

Niemann is defending himself against a backlash from the chess community, including five-time US chess champion Kaikuro Nakamura, who are publicly questioning the integrity of his win.
