Malappuram: When Girija and Rakesh got married at a pandal in Vengara Parampilpadi Sri Ammancheri temple premises, the whole country was in jubilation. Girija, who was abandoned by her father and came to Agati Mandir with her mother and sister-in-law, was seen as a foster daughter in that country.

Rakesh Girija of Etayur was blessed with light on the neck of Elampilakkad Anand Namboothiri at the auspicious moment between 8.30 am and 9 am today in the pandal of Vengara Parampilpadi Sri Ammancheri temple premises.

The invitation letter prepared by Vengara 12th Ward Muslim League, Youth League and MSF Committee, inviting the guests to the wedding ceremony, got attention on social media. This love is not limited to the wedding ceremony. The Muslim League workers were with the temple officials to welcome the guests and serve them food.

Girija, a native of Palakkad, has been living in Rose Manor with her mother and sister-in-law for the past ten years after her father abandoned her. The twelfth ward Muslim League workers along with Ross Manor Superintendent Dhanya took the lead in everything from fixing the marriage with the groom Rakesh.

Panakkad Syed Munavarali Shihab Thangal, Muslim League National General Secretary PK Kunhalikutty MLA, ET Muhammad Basheer MP, Zilla Panchayat President MK Rafeeqah, AP Unnikrishnan, TPM Basheer, other public representatives, various religious and political leaders were present at the wedding. Party representatives also participated.

Kunhalikutty wrote on Facebook that witnessing the wedding was one of the most blessed experiences of her life. He also shared a video of his attendance at the wedding.
