Netanyahu’s efforts to prevent an ultra-Orthodox split: Officials involved in the negotiations with the ultra-Orthodox factions expressed their displeasure in a conversation with “Srogi” about the way Netanyahu is trying to resolve the crisis between “Degal HaTorah” and “Agudat Israel” regarding the issue of the education outline of Hasidism in Gaza. According to them, there is a great disappointment with Netanyahu trying to intervene in the issue of education, which for them is an intra-Orthodox ideological issue that is “decided with the elders of Israel”.

Recently, Netanyahu appointed Ze’ev Fleishman as his adviser on ultra-Orthodox affairs, and this, according to the ultra-Orthodox sources, did not correctly assess the extent to which this is an ideological crisis related to the decision of rabbis – and not to politicians. Fleishman arranged meetings with ultra-Orthodox Knesset members and Netanyahu met with Rabbi Edelstein’s great-grandson. In addition, they say that Netanyahu even asked to meet with the Rebbe of Belza and with Rabbi Edelstein themselves, but the ultra-Orthodox representatives politely explained to him that “it’s not for him.”

“A vermin food that tries to teach us how to deal with education?” An ultra-Orthodox official involved in the negotiations wondered this week in a conversation with ‘Srogi,’ and quoted an ultra-Orthodox member of the Knesset who said about Netanyahu’s intervention: “Bibi has gone blind, he saw that the ultra-Orthodox admire him at all kinds of events when he arrives, and he thinks of himself as more than the greatest of Israel.”

Although the differences in the negotiations began on the background of the issue of the locations on the list, they became ideologues following the publication of the Ministry of Education’s “Call to Call” based on the education outline that was agreed upon with Hassidism in Laza in June. As soon as the subject of education comes up, from the point of view of the ultra-Orthodox members of the Knesset, it is not their decision, but that of the rabbis.

In the meantime, the negotiations are stuck, and there is no solution in sight in the conflict between “Degal HaTorah” and “Agudat Yisrael”, when the rabbis are not ready to compromise on such a fundamental issue for entering the Knesset even at the cost of a split between the factions, because according to their view, politics is a tool in the service of ideology and therefore not Give a political compromise on an ideological issue.
