Riyadh: A foreign female doctor and assistant who performed an illegal abortion in Saudi Arabia have been arrested. The Saudi Ministry of Health said that the abortion was performed at a clinic run by them in a private medical complex in Riyadh.
They were arrested on the basis of secret information that abortions were carried out illegally in a prominent medical complex without following the norms of the health department. The police arrested them and handed them over to the public prosecution. It is an offense punishable with imprisonment for six months or a fine of one lakh rupees or both. Obsolete medical equipment and medicines used to perform abortions were seized from here.
