Tests galore, yet Team India with the same batting line-up that ‘cheated’ the 2021 World Cup

by time news

Mumbai: India’s exit in the first round of the T20 World Cup held in the UAE last year without even reaching the semi-finals left the fans disappointed and shocked. India’s way forward was sealed by losses to Pakistan in the first match and New Zealand in the second.

In both the matches, India lost the crucial toss in Dubai and were put in to bat. With this, the Indian team started trying to unravel and find a new winning combination. With Rahul Dravid as the coach and Rohit Sharma as the captain, there was a procession of experiments in the Indian team. Dravid and Rohit took turns testing the IPL sensations by resting the senior players in the bilateral series. Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson and many other stars wore the Indian jersey.

But when the selectors announced the Indian team for the T20 World Cup starting in Australia next month, the only change was made in the batting line-up. That too Deepak Hooda joined the team due to an unexpected injury to Ravindra Jadeja during the Asia Cup.

After the announcement of the Indian team, Sanju shared a new picture on Facebook and consoled the fans

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya, who played for India in the batting line-up in the last World Cup, have retained their positions this time as well. Fans can’t be blamed if they suspect that testing so many young players in the bilateral series and adopting a new approach in T20s was for this. Let’s see what are the major changes in the team that played last World Cup.

Dinesh Karthik replaces Ishan Kishan

The main change is that Dinesh Karthik, who was selected as a finisher in place of Ishan Kishan, who played in the last World Cup, has joined the team this time.

Harshal Patel replaces Shardul

Last time it was Shardul Thakur who came to the team as a pacer who knows how to bat. Harshal Patel has replaced him in the World Cup team as a new face.

Chahal instead of Chahar

Yuzvendra Chahal replaced Rahul Chahar in the team and another major change. It was his performance for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL that opened the way for Chahal to join the Indian team again.

In the T20 squad against Australia and South Africa, Mohammed Shami is back and there is no place for Sanju

Axar Patel replaces Ravindra Jadeja

After Ravindra Jadeja, who played for India in the last T20 World Cup, got injured during the Asia Cup, Axar Patel got a chance in the World Cup team. Axar was a reserve player in the last World Cup.

Arshdeep Singh replaces Mohammad Shami

Pacer Mohammad Shami, who was in the Indian team in the last World Cup, became the stand-by star this time, while left-handed pacer Arshdeep Singh joined the team this time.

Reserve Players: Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar, who were reserve players in the last World Cup, are also standby players this time. Other stand-by players are Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Shami.

Indian Team for T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
