Air traffic controllers’ strike: possibly one in two flights canceled on Friday

by time news

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) is asking companies to cancel one in two flights in mainland France and overseas, this Friday. In question ? The filing of a strike notice by the National Union of Air Traffic Controllers (SNCTA).

“From Friday September 16 at 6 a.m. until Saturday September 17 at 6 a.m., air traffic will be severely disrupted throughout the national territory”, warns the DGAC, recommending passengers to “postpone” their trip .

The SNCTA justifies the call for Friday’s strike by several demands, in particular “the social balance of remuneration with regard to record inflation” and calls on the public authorities to “anticipate and plan recruitment in the sector”, while “a third” of air traffic controllers will retire between 2029 and 2035.
