A client council represents the general interests of clients who use ambulance transport. The council advises, solicited and unsolicited, the management and management of the regional ambulance service on subjects that concern clients, such as:

  • accessibility and accessibility of ambulance care
  • quality survey and customer satisfaction survey
  • patient safety and information security
  • care coordination
  • regional distribution & availability of ambulances
  • performance of the regional ambulance service (RAV)

The client council also has the right of consent in certain areas. In this way, the client council contributes to the further improvement of the quality of ambulance care.

One client council for Brabant

To set up a single client council in the province of North Brabant, RAV Brabant Midden-West-Noord has sought cooperation with our ambulance care from GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. There are a number of reasons for this: our RAVs already work closely together, including at the ambulance care control room in Den Bosch. We also work in an unambiguous way as much as possible and we are both public services with a Joint Regulation of the municipalities in Brabant.

The only hard condition for participation in the client council is that one must live in Brabant. Members do not need to have experience with ambulance care themselves. But it is important that they have an affinity with care and the will to represent the interests of a large group. After a selection round, five enthusiastic members were appointed. Three of them live in the Brabant Mid-West-North region, two members live in Brabant-Southeast. One of the members has the role of chairman.

Former RAV director Ger Jacobs and director GGD Brabant-Zuidoost Ellis Jeurissen

Director GGD Brabant-Southeast Ellis Jeurissen: “Our Client Council is of a strategic level, diverse in composition and with a focus on patients and employees. Inquisitive, positively critical and enviromentconsciously. It keeps us on our toes and I am very pleased that the two RAVs in Brabant have set up one client council together.”

Former RAV director Ger Jacobs: “We noticed that the many questions asked by the members showed that they had thoroughly immersed themselves in our sector. They did this, for example, by reading our long-term plans and viewing the websites. We are pleased with the great involvement of the client council in our RAVs and look forward to the collaboration with confidence.”
