Govt approves Rs 15.4 crore for dredging works Dinamalar

Chennai: Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore districts of Chennai are mostly affected by the northeast monsoon. Therefore water channels are dug before the onset of monsoon in these districts.

The government allocates funds for these projects every year. At present, the construction of rainwater canals in these districts is going on at an estimate of several thousand crores of rupees. Meanwhile, up to 80 crore rupees have been asked from the water resources department for the dredging works. But now the government has approved to provide Rs 15.4 crore.
