Puducherry: Officials removed the shacks built encroaching on the municipal land with a power line machine. Aarathyamma Garden is located near Lambert Saravanan Nagar, Rettiarpalayam. Here, seven families have occupied the land belonging to the Uzhawargari Municipality and built huts. Due to complaints from the people, they were allotted an alternative place by the Hut Relocation Board and all were advised to vacate.
A related notice was also given to them. In this situation, under the leadership of Uzhwarkarai Municipal Commissioner Sureshraj, engineers and employees removed the encroached houses yesterday with the help of a bogline machine. Apart from her house, they demolished the huts of six other people. The municipal authorities gave Rani a month’s time and said that the house would be demolished after that. Redyarpalayam Sub-Inspector Zakir Hussain led the police on security duty.
