Commonwealth gold medalist Aussie women’s cricketer Rachel Haynes is retiring

Melbourne: Australian women’s cricket team vice-captain and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Rachel Haynes has announced her retirement from international cricket.

The 35-year-old announced that the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League will be her last domestic season. Haynes played 84 T20Is, 77 ODIs and six Tests for the Aussies in a career spanning more than a decade.

The actor also thanked his coaches, teammates, friends, family members and his partner.

Haynes is a player who has scored nearly 4000 runs in all formats. This includes his 98 on Test debut against England in 2009. He has scored two ODI centuries and 19 fifties in his career.

Haynes led the Aussies during the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup when regular captain Meg Lanning suffered a shoulder injury.

Haynes was a member of the Twenty20 World Cup winning team in 2018 and 2020, the Women’s ODI World Cup winning team in 2022 and the Commonwealth Games gold medal winning team in the same year.
