Diane Parry qualified for the quarter-finals in Portoroz

The French Diane Parry (71st in the world) qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Portoroz by beating the Russian Anastasie Potapova (45th) after two tight sets, 7-6 (7/2), 6-4 in 1:53 a.m., Thursday.

Parry, French N.3 behind Nicole Garcia and Alizé Cornet, will face Friday, for a place in the last four, the Briton Emma Raducanu (83rd in the world) or the German Anna-Lena Friedsam (95th).

Raducanu was named the No.1 seed in the Slovenian tournament for the benefit of her ranking at the start of the US Open (10th), before plummeting after losing her title at Flushing Meadow where she disappeared in the 2nd round on the 31st. august.
