Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has stated that it is no longer mandatory to stamp passports when renewing visas. This was reported by the local media citing the Royal Oman Police. Instead of stamping the traditional visa in the passport, online renewal has started. The explanation of the ROP is in the context of an inquiry by residents including Malayalees.

Royal Oman Police sources said that the new system, which came into effect in various governorates a few weeks ago, is to make the visa stamping process easier and will make it more effective. It has been decided to stop stamping passports for resident visa renewals. It does not matter to the person whether the passport has a stamp or not. According to media reports, the police official said that he can travel and submit his resident card as proof of residence.
