The National Strategy for Games and E-Sports was launched by Saudi Crown Prince and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The goal of the project is to make Saudi Arabia a global hub for the gaming e-sports sector by 2030.

This project comes as part of the sports and entertainment initiatives implemented as part of Vision 2030. The project is expected to contribute directly and indirectly to the GDP of 50 billion riyals. More than 39,000 people will get jobs. The project aims to organize events for games and e-sports and build educational institutes. The project will be implemented with government private partnership. Research in the field of games will also be encouraged. This project is also part of attracting visitors from foreign countries. It is estimated that there are 21 million young people in the world who are interested in electronic games.
