Cancer café with monthly theme ‘Dealing with cancer’

by time news

IJMOND – For those who have or had cancer, there was little opportunity to meet in and around Beverwijk. For them and their loved ones, oncology physiotherapist JoAnne van Yperen has now set up a Cancer Café together with the IJmond Noord Library.

Every fourth Monday of the month, an expert in the library on Kerkplein gives a presentation on a different theme each time. In this way we hope to clarify all the information that comes to you during the disease process and the recovery period.
Monday, September 26, the Kankercafé will start with a presentation on how to deal with cancer: what next? First you are told that you have cancer. Then follows a long period of treatments and complaints. And then: congratulations, you’ve finished the treatments, we’ll see you again in three months… What should you do then? How do you deal with uncertainty and how do you pick up your life again? Today we will discuss different ways of coping with cancer. And we’ll discuss exercises that help you regain control of your life.

Of course you can also ask questions and talk to each other while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Pre-registration is not necessary and admission is always free.

More info and the program for the coming months can be found at www.kankercafe.nl
