Samira: “Not everyone in my family takes my mental struggles seriously”

“If this happened to my daughter…”

When Tannaz asks Samira what kind of reaction she would have liked to see from her family, Samira becomes emotional. “I just wish my mom or my grandma had said, ‘Pack your things and move in with us temporarily or we’ll come to you temporarily’ so I can process what has happened since the pregnancy.”

Samira continues: “I have a daughter of my own and when I look at her, I think: if she ever becomes a mother and ends up in the same situation as me, then I will be there. I will support her and sleep with her, even if I have to sleep on the floor I hold my daughter, talk to her and pray with her.”
