Comics, presentation of “The Angel of Budapest” to the Senate, a graphic novel about the 1956 revolt

Tuesday 9 November in Rome, ‘Ferrogallico Editore’ organizes a day of great events for the presentation of the graphic novel “The Angel of Budapest. The days of the revolt”, dedicated to the memory of the 1956 Budapest Uprising, crushed in blood by chariots Soviet armed forces. In fact, on the 65th anniversary of the Uprising, the comic wanted by the Public Foundation of Hungarian culture was also released in Italy, illustrated by Attila Futaki, illustrator Walt Disney.

An exciting action-fiction inspired by real events that, with a style suspended between comics and animation, evokes a crucial page of European history. The comic is the Italian version (enriched by 50 pages of exclusive photos on the Uprising and unpublished from the Hungarian state archives) of the work “Budapest Angyala” (Gabor Tallai / Attila Futaki) commissioned by the Orban government to renew memory in the younger generations of the courage of the Hungarian people against communist violence, and was published in Hungary 5 years ago (on the 60th anniversary of the Budapest Uprising) by the Public Foundation for Research on the History and Societies of Central and Eastern Europe.

On the day in which the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Soviet Union are commemorated, ‘Ferrogallico Editore’, therefore, makes an appointment at the Senate of the Republic (Sala Caduti di Nassyria), where a conference will be held next Tuesday at 3 pm. presentation of the cartoon “The Angel of Budapest. The days of the revolt”. The speakers will be Ádám Zoltán Kovács, Ambassador of Hungary to Italy, the vice president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, Umberto Maiorca, journalist and author of the historical essay contained in the comic, Federico Goglio, editorial director Ferrogallico.

At 6 pm, then, in the room of the Century of Italy in via della Scrofa 43, in Rome, there will be a meeting with the press and the inauguration of the Photographic Exhibition with exclusive images from the Hungarian State Archives, the Public Foundation for research on the History and Societies of Central-Eastern Europe and the Fortepan archive. Finally, at 6.30 pm, the presentation of the graphic novel to the public will take place. The speakers will be Eniko Györi, Fidesz MEP, Senator La Russa, Maiorca and Marco Carucci, Ferrogallico Editrice.
