The first big date arrives for Gipuzkoan opponents. After a whole summer, and more, sinking their elbows, around 5,534 Gipuzkoans are examined between tomorrow and Sunday at the BEC in Barakaldo in search of a public position in the Basque general administration. In total, they account for 23% of the 24,061 Basques registered for the first 1,272 places in this great OPE, which must be completed throughout this year and in the coming months. And it is that in total there are 8,764 places in the Basque general administration that the Basque Government has put out to tender for this period. It is one of the main oppositions within the barrage of OPE unleashed this year to end the interim in the public sector, and among which the 45,000 that the State is going to offer, the 1,365 from the UPV and the 422 from the Diputación also stand out Foral of Gipuzkoa.

For now, the first date starts this weekend. Up for grabs are 230 administrative support staff positions (8,935 applications), 40 nursing positions (935 applications), 677 administrative assistant positions (19,282 applications) and 325 administrative positions (18,852 applications). 24,601 people apply, although some apply for more than one place, so that overall, applications amount to 48,054. The majority of these requests, 79%, are by competition-competition, while 21% are by special call for merit competition, for temporary staff who have been working continuously since before 2016.

Three out of four opponents are women, while 25% are men. The sector of the population between 41 and 50 years old predominates, accounting for almost half, 40.5%. There are 15% of those under 30 years of age, and 22% of those between 31 and 40, and those over 51.

Bizkaia accounts for 48% of those present, followed by Araba with 28% and Gipuzkoa, with 23%. A scant 1% comes from elsewhere.

The first tests will be on Saturday at ten in the morning for support staff positions. At four is the Nursing test. The call is completed on Sunday at ten (administrative assistant) and four (administrative). The Minister of Public Governance and Self-Government of the Basque Government, Olatz Garamendi, will travel to the BEC tomorrow to follow the start of the exams, which last between an hour and a half and two hours. The Executive has a total of 900 people who will work and help the opponents, who will even have the presence of two doctors.
