A huge fire broke out today (Friday) in a high-rise office building in downtown Changsha, the capital of China’s southern province of Hunan. According to reports in the country’s media, hundreds of people were burned alive.

The event took place in the China Telecom building which rises to a height of more than 200 meters. It was reported on Chinese state television that dozens of floors were on fire and that the building “burned with great intensity” and the area was filled with thick, black smoke. It was also reported that the fire was extinguished, but it is not known how many were injured in the incident.
