In this case, a 22-year-old girl named Masha Amini went to Tehran with her family from the Kurdistan region of western Iran. As the woman was not wearing proper hijab, the ethics police stopped and searched the vehicle in which the woman came. The police arrested the young girl because she did not wear hijab properly and took her away in their vehicle.
It is said that the teenager was assaulted during the arrest. It is also said that the police reprimanded and assaulted the woman while she was being arrested and taken to jail. A few hours after the arrest, the woman fainted and the police admitted her to the hospital. The doctors examined her and said that the young lady was in a coma. While he was being treated in the intensive care unit, he tragically died without treatment. The incident has caused shock and excitement there. Women’s rights activists have condemned the incident and staged protests there.
