Tirupur: On behalf of Tirupur Sports and Education Foundation (D Set), the 27th Nitcity Volleyball Tournament started on the 18th at Sirupooluvapatti Tset ground. 19 school teams participated in the senior category and 16 teams each in the very senior category. In the senior category, Vidya Vikasini School team beat Frontline School by 2 – 0. In this category, KSC, Government Higher Secondary School and Nanjappa Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School stood third and fourth respectively. In the senior category, Vidya Vikasini School team St. Joseph’s won the match 2-0. Infant Jesus School came third and Little Kingdom School came fourth. In the senior category, Vidyavigasini School beat Velavan School by 2-1. In this category, Jayavabai Municipal Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School came third and AVP Trust School came fourth. .

In the senior category, Velavan School team beat Perumanalluar Government Boys School team by 2-0. In this category, Frontline School got the third position, AVP and Trust School got the fourth position. Tirupur District Volleyball Association President Rangasamy presided over the award ceremony. D Set Association Vice-President Kanthirajan and Treasurer Devarajan presided. Earlier, T Set President Veluchami gave the welcome. Champion trophy was awarded to the winning teams and individual trophies and certificates were given to the male and female players.
