Muniandi, who hails from Kondangkuppam in Ranipet district, runs a tiffin shop. His son Muthu is studying in 10th standard. His uncle Santhosh bought a cell phone online for 12 thousand rupees last April. While Muthu was using that cell phone, yesterday the student kept the cell phone in his pants pocket and went to the railway station on a bike with his cousin Manohar.
While riding the bike, Muthu’s cell phone in his pocket suddenly exploded and his pants caught fire. Shocked, Muthu hit a tree on the side of the road with the bike and fell down. Manokaran is also receiving treatment at the hospital. The student was seriously injured when the cell phone exploded less than four months after he bought the cell phone online.
