People and political parties have been demanding for a long time that a railway station should be constructed at Kovilpalayam, 12 km from Pollachi, for the convenience of the village students and public who travel to Coimbatore every day. . Even the executives of the ruling BJP at the center have made efforts for this, but to no avail. However, six railway stations are functioning on the 54 km long Pollachi-Palakkad railway line. From Pollachi, Anaimalai Gate Railway Station comes at 10 km. Then Meenakshipuram at 16 km, Muladamata at 22 km, Kollangode at 30 km, Vadakanniapuram at 30.8 km, Pudunagarm at 42 km, Puducherry at 48 km. Six railway stations are functioning in Palakkad Town. At the 54th km, there is a Palakkad junction. But on the Pollachi – Bothanur railway, a railway station has been set up only at Kinathukada. This one-sidedness has caused discontent among the public. The people of Kovilpalayam area said: “Already, the Palakkad Railway Division administration is accused of neglecting the development of the Tamil Nadu areas under its jurisdiction and the welfare of the passengers. In this situation, two railway stations (Kollangode and Vadakanniapuram) have been constructed on the Palakkad railway line at a distance of just 800 meters. . However, denying the Kovilpalayam railway station, which could benefit thousands of people, is confirming the neglect of parts of Tamil Nadu, they said.
