INTERVIEW. Symbol of an Algerian raï which is regenerating, Sofiane Saidi was at the Les Suds festival in Arles. He gives us the genesis of his solo project “Wahdi”.

OOriginally from Sidi Bel Abbès, Sofiane Saidi has been nicknamed the “Prince of raï 2.0” since he exploded on the stages of Oran but also abroad and particularly in France. In Arles, at the Les Suds festival, he marked the minds and feelings of music lovers in love with raï with “Wahdi”. Created during confinement, this solo project – hence its name, which means “all alone” in Arabic – leads the artist to push the limits of his creativity even further by continuing to draw on the great diversity of the original sounds of raï. .
