The hand is open and the notebook is writing, and if you are looking for an original gift for Rosh Hashanah, instead of writing a check – throw a bid in the auction of the original script of Givat Halfon.

A collection of pages from the original script of the iconic 1976 film are up for sale, including script revisions and handwritten rewrites of the first version of the film. You will find key phrases there such as “Bola Bola where are you?”, “Bor and with the book”, and if you get to page 2, you will discover the opening scene of the film that was cut out.

Givat Halfon Ina Oona is an Israeli comedy film starring the Pale Tracker Trio and directed by Assi Dayan, which later became a cult film and one of the most quoted films in Israeli existence. It shows the absurd nature of the reserve servants in the IDF, in the period after the Yom Kippur War.

How much will a page from the original script of Givat Halfon cost?

The intriguing offer appeared on the Facebook page of the late director Assi Dayan, where photos of the pages offered for sale were published, as well as a detail of the “road map for treasure seekers”, with references to selected quotes from the script.

The post received hundreds of interested responses, who stated that “I would be very, very happy to purchase”, and even those who were ready to “invest in all the pages and buy them all for a good amount”. On the other hand, there were also fans who resented the idea that the immortal text would be scattered everywhere between private hands, and claimed: “The National Library should buy it”, and that “this work should be preserved, intact, in the state archives”.

The framed pages will be sold as individual units at auction, with a starting price of $120 per page. On the Facebook page, after the publication and the comments on it, they made it clear that the goal is to make sure that the script reaches as many people as possible, so it is divided into separate pages so that they are not sold to one person. “If we wanted to,” it says, “we would sell the entire script to one buyer for an astronomical amount.”

For those interested, pay attention to the pearls that appear in the most precious pages:

An entire dialogue that did not make it into the film – between Victor and Gingji, when Gingji came to ask for Yaeli’s hand in marriage. (page 6)

“In relation to the hand it’s fine, in relation to the question of the parts I need to switch to a suit” (page 5).

“A robust lord in the shape of a sculler approaches here” (page 20)

And also a first version of “I’ve been looking for the sea for an hour”, on page 45.
