Big drama in the basketball association. Board members from both Maccabi and Po’el began a joint move to oust the current chairman, Amiram Halevi, a year and a half before the original election date.
Those board members believe that the union must shake things up, when board meetings do not take place, and decisions such as raising the salary of CEO Yaakov Ben Shoshan are brought before a management committee and not to the union board.
One of the board members told ONE: “The union must undergo a major change, it is impossible to continue on this path. There are quite a few board members who demand the change. In this way, we will not get far.”
He also added: “Sometimes it seems that they have decided to return us to the dark, we will not allow it. There are quite a few things that must be answered. It seems that the union needs a new spirit, someone who will lead the union in a different, correct way, without hiding with transparency.’
