When asked about the contesting leaders, KC Venugopal said that the position of the party and the leadership is that anyone can contest. Asked if he was sure that no one from the Gandhi family would contest, Venugopal said that it will be known when the nomination papers are filed and only then can he say anything more.

KC Venugopal replied that it is the freedom of Rahul Gandhi and others to decide whether to contest or not. KC Venugopal added that Rahul Gandhi had not told them anything about this.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will return to Delhi on 23rd night. Prior to that, KC met with senior leaders. It is reported that Venugopal will hold the discussion. After that there will be a crucial discussion with Rahul Gandhi on Friday. With this, it will be known whether he will contest. It is hinted that Shashi Tharoor may not contest if Rahul Gandhi is in the race.

There was confusion about the election when Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior leader Ashok Gehlot, who was considered to be the Nehru family’s candidate, made a condition to contest. Gehlot says that Sachin Pilot should not be given the seat if he steps down from the post of Chief Minister.

AICC is thinking of considering Mukul Wasnik if Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot withdraw their candidature. The delay in the Nehru family party’s candidate is delaying the decision in the G23 as well.
