London:

Queen Elizabeth II of England passed away on the 8th. Charles was proclaimed king the next day. Buckingham Palace released a statement on the Queen’s official mourning.

The statement said, “Following the death of Her Majesty the Queen, it is the King’s wish to observe state mourning for an additional week after her funeral. State mourning will be observed by the royal family, staff and soldiers.”

In turn, the royal family will not participate in any official functions for another week. The royal family has also released a never-before-seen photograph of Queen Elizabeth.

This picture was taken in Balmoral Castle, Scotland in 1971. The image was released by the royal family with the caption: “Let your feathered angels sing, in memory of Her Majesty the Queen”. It is noteworthy that the lines “Let the fairies sing of thy wings” can be found in Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet’.
