A serious case happened this week in one of the primary schools in Kiryat. The mother of the student, who was called to the school, discovered, according to her claim, that following her son’s objection to entering the classroom at the end of the break, force was used against him by the head of the house and the principal of the school.

The mother: “I received a phone call from the principal who informed me that my son had a fight with one of the children, and that I should come pick him up. I asked to find out how he was doing and to talk to him, but the call was disconnected. I took a taxi and hurried to the school. When I arrived, the security guard took me to the yard, which was locked, and I saw You are my son. He was red, crying, thirsty and completely alone.

“I asked him what happened? And he said that during recess a boy bullied him and he informed the teacher. Since, according to him, she did not pay attention to his words, he cried in the hallway and refused to enter the classroom.

“When the principal saw him, she told him to enter the classroom, and as soon as he refused, she called the father of the house and together they forcibly dragged him down the school stairs. From the second floor down, when at the end the principal ordered the father of the house to put my son in the yard.

“It’s a yard that can be locked, so whoever is in the yard can’t get in. My son described how the father of the house grabbed both of his hands behind his back and slammed him on the floor in the yard – and he also got hit in the head.

“My son asked to talk to me, asked for water and he was simply ignored. I saw him physically and mentally hurt, he had blows on his shoulder, head and back.”

The upset mother rushed to report the incident to the Zebulon police who called a mobile to the school. The mother filed a complaint with the police against the school principal and the father of the house for ‘suspected helpless assault’, and the police collected personal details of the school principal for the purpose of opening the investigation.

“This is repeated racist harassment by the principal against my son, just because we are of Ethiopian origin,” said the mother to Meint Kiryot.

Immediately after the incident, the mother rushed her son to the hospital. The medical report states: “The child was bruised all over, including a head injury without loss of consciousness, the mother reported a single vomiting after the injuries. Rubbing wound on the back and right shoulder, sensitivity to the touch of the head and superficial rubbing wounds on the back wound, rubbing with dried blood on the right shoulder. Multiple superficial bruises.” . The doctor also stated: “I will send a report to welfare.”

The police stated: “The police opened an investigation upon receiving a complaint regarding the attack on the minor. The investigation is in its early stages and naturally we cannot provide anything beyond what has been said regarding the ongoing investigation.”

The Ministry of Education stated: “Due to the individual’s modesty, we will not be able to comment on events related to the student. The mother has filed a complaint with the police, and the issue is under investigation.”
