A homeless man in Los Angeles has become something of a ‘viral hero’ after he was caught on video throwing his own excrement at a business owner, who blasted city officials for “not caring” about the growing economic crisis that has put him on the streets.

Paul Scrivano, owner of the Blue Dog Beer Tavern off Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, shared footage of the pantsless man throwing a trash bag on the hood of his car. “Every day, it’s like ‘Cuckoo’s Nest,'” Scrivano told FOX11 Tuesday about the homeless people who frequent the area around his tavern.

“Every morning, I clean it off my property before I have to do business,” Scrivano said. Attorney Larry Spade, chairman of the Homeless Committee of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association, said business owners have a right to be frustrated. “Many business owners are not getting the response they need and deserve,” he explained.

“Single homeless people will sleep in front of a store, make it their home, bring their possessions, use it as a bedroom. In the morning, when the business owners come to open, they have to try to deal with a homeless person who literally blocks the entrance to their business and then, they have to deal with cleaning up hazardous waste right in front Their business is right in Sherman Oaks, right on Ventura Boulevard.”

Scrivano, for his part, repeatedly sent videos of the homeless doing as they pleased on Ventura Boulevard to the office of Councilwoman Nithya Raman, who represents Sherman Oaks. But her office responded and told him to stop sending graphic material. “Nithya Raman doesn’t care, she doesn’t care,” Scrivano said

When asked by FOX she replied: “The reality is that people who experience homelessness are still people who are out there on the streets because they don’t have a home. Where is the compassion in leaving someone on the street when it’s clear that they can’t help themselves in any way?”.
