Consumption: families buy less while shopping

The family shopping trolley has become lighter from one year to the next. Their purchases (in volume) fell by 5.1% from January to mid-August, compared to the same period of 2021, according to the latest data from the NielsenIQ institute. A less pronounced decrease among those under 50 without children (– 2.2%) while among those over 50 without children, purchases even increased by 2.8%.
